Meet the Team

Claire

Founder

Hi, I’m Claire. I’ve been a qualified teacher since 1999 and have worked across a variety of Key Stages, although I particularly loved my time teaching in the Early Years. I’m a mum to two girls, with my youngest currently in Reception, so early learning is very much part of our everyday life at home.

After lockdown, I made the decision not to return to the classroom. I wanted to find a way to share my knowledge, experience and passion for Phonics in a way that felt accessible and supportive for parents and their children. That desire became one of the driving forces behind Soundlings.

Within our partnership, I’m known as the “ideas lady”. I love dreaming up playful activities and creative ways to introduce sounds, whilst Jemma works her magic turning those ideas into practical, beautifully structured resources.

I truly believe that young children are like sponges. In their early years, they should be given every opportunity to absorb, learn and explore through play and hands-on experiences, building confidence and curiosity from the very beginning.

Jemma

Hello, I’m Jemma. I began my career in education in 2007 and am also a qualified teacher. I’m a mum to two young daughters, one of whom started school during the first year of lockdown.

While homeschooling during that time, it quickly became clear just how many parents were struggling with Phonics, not because they didn’t care, but because they didn’t have the knowledge, confidence or resources to support their children effectively. I started creating simple, homemade Phonics activities at home, and soon realised that even my then 18-month-old was enjoying joining in.

That experience was a real turning point. My daughter went on to read by the age of three and a half, and it opened my eyes to just how underestimated preschool children often are. With the right approach, they are capable of so much more than we sometimes realise.

Together with Claire and Kate, I’m on a mission to help children reach their full potential.

Kate

Hi, I’m Kate. I’m a TV/Radio Presenter, Podcaster, Author and some of you may know me as the winner of the third series of Big Brother UK back in 2002. Today though, my most important role is being a mum to Noa.

I became part of the Soundlings brand after building a lovely friendship with Claire and Jemma, brought together by a shared passion for early reading.

Claire and Jemma very kindly sent me some of their fantastic resources when my daughter was two. I began using the resources when Noa was coming up to three and was genuinely amazed at how quickly she progressed.

Straight away Noa loved playing with the flash cards and activity packs and within weeks her confidence grew. This sparked a real interest in Phonics and the importance of early reading experiences. Like many parents, I hadn’t realised just how powerful playful, hands-on Phonics could be, not only for children’s learning, but for building confidence in parents too.

What I love about Soundlings is how supportive and accessible the resources feel. They take away the pressure and make learning to read something that families can enjoy together. That’s why I’m so proud to be involved.

I now use my platform and loyal followers to help share Claire and Jemma’s knowledge, spread the Soundlings message, and support the growth of this wonderful business. I truly believe in what we’re creating and feel hugely passionate about helping other families discover just how exciting early reading can be.

I’m so proud to be part of Soundlings and to support little readers as they grow.

Thank you for getting to know us. We’re so glad you’re here.
